Any
funds which invest in Equity
market and investing in shares are known as Equity mutual funds. The investment the objective of these types of funds is to seek capital appreciation through
investment in these growth-oriented assets.
Types of Equity
Funds:-
There are various
types of Equity funds
1.
Sector
Funds-: In these types of
funds investment is done on the basis of the sector-wise. For example, banking the sector will only invest in banking share companies, Gold sector funds will invest
only in Gold share related company.
2.
Thematic
Fund:-In these types of funds
investment is done based upon one theme. For example infrastructure, the thematic
fund invests in infrastructure construction, infrastructure toll-collection,
cement steel, telecom power, etc. This investment done in sector funds is broader
than thematic funds but narrower than diversified funds.
3.
Equity
Link Saving Scheme (ELSS):- Investment done in ELSS funds are used for tax
saving so this is called as
tax saving scheme. In this scheme, the fund is locked until 3 years. No one can withdraw
amount before 3 years.
4.
Rajiv
Gandhi Equity Saving Schemes (RGESS):- Investment in these funds provides Tax-free benefit for first-time
investors, and locked in a period of investors is 1 year or 2 years. So RGESS has
a flexible lock-in period.
5.
Equity
income/Dividend yield schemes:-This
types of investment done in those shares which fluctuate less and get large dividend proportion in return. These are NAV expected equity schemes less fluctuated than another category of equity schemes.
6.
Arbitrage
Funds:-In these types of funds
a contra position in the same scrip or securities is taken to get the benefit of the price difference between the two exchange or two segments like equity cash and
derivatives. For example, the same stock bought and sold in NSE and BSE.
